What PDP And APC Anambra Governorship Candidates Said About IPOB In The Debate.

anambra election debate

The Anambra 2017 governorship election debate held yesterday 12 November and was handled by Channels Tv.

The debate was a heated one with each candidate presenting his manifesto with a view of gaining more supporters and votes. However, the high point came towards the end of the debate when the candidates were asked about their opinions concerning the agitation and activities of the indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB).

APC candidate, Tony Nwoye, while responding to the question said he will engage the agitating youths and offer them employments as he sighted the chief problem behind the agitation as unemployment and marginalization. He said: I am part and parcel of them. Remember that I am a product of activism. IPOB members are not rebels and should not be sidelined.”

PDP candidate, Oseloka Obaze also responded as he said that dialogue is the best means in handling IPOB’s agitation. He faulted the government’s method of handling the agitation and proscription of the group. He ended with a warning saying: Those who make peaceful change impossible, makes violent change inevitable.”

The UPP candidate, Osita Chidioka who has had a good relationship with IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, disagreed with other candidates as he said unemployment is not the problem of IPOB. He said Nnamdi Kanu was APGA’s London chairman when they all had hopes that the party would be a voice for the Igbo people, and that the failure of APGA and the turning of the party into a money making machine led to the formation of IPOB.

The Anambra governorship election will hold on the 18th of November, just few days from today. What are your thoughts about the election?
