Edo State Needs An Indigene As Governor – Philip Shaibu

Ex deputy governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu has come out to say that any governorship candidate who cannot speak the Edo dialect cannot govern the state.

He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and Nigerians have been reacting.

According to him, he would only support a homeboy to become the governor of the state, and any candidate who needs the help of an interpreter does not qualify as a homeboy.

He added that Edo is in need of a governor who understands what it means to be an Edo indigene.

His words, “Today, we have decided that a homeboy that we know will become the governor of Edo State. You already know that Edo born in Lagos State is not a homeboy.

Is somebody who comes here with an interpreter a homeboy? So, if that is a minus it means we will look for a homeboy.”
