Bisi Lawrence Contributed To Sports Development In Nigeria – Orji Kalu

Chief Whip of the Senate, Sen. Orji Kalu has come out to mourn the death of veteran journalist and sports administrator, Bisi Lawrence.

He recently revealed that the deceased was a talented media practitioner and sports enthusiast who contributed to sports development in Nigeria.

According to him, media practitioners should learn to uphold the ethics of the profession as shown by the late statesman during his time on earth.

He then added that Bisi Lawrence will surely be remembered for his good works in the media profession.

His words, “The demise of Bisi Lawrence, a seasoned journalist and sports administrator is a big loss to the media industry.

“The late media guru used his writing skills to contribute to development of sports beyond the shores of Nigeria.

“He will be surely missed.”

Orji Uzor Kalu (born 21 April 1960) is a Nigerian politician and businessperson. He is the chairman of SLOK Holding and the Daily Sun and New Telegraph newspapers in Nigeria. He served as the Governor of Abia State, Nigeria from 29 May 1999 to 29 May 2007.

Kalu was born to the family of Mr. Johnson Uzor Nesiegbe Kalu and Mrs Eunice Kalu. He attended Christ the King School Aba and Government College Umuahia. After studying at Barewa College, Zaria, he enrolled in the University of Maiduguri where he studied political science. During his time at the university, Kalu became a student activist, and participated in the “Ali Must Go” riots against the education minister.

His participation resulted in his suspension. While his fellow students later took the school authorities to court, Kalu left school to build his own business.

Kalu married Ms. Ifeoma Ada Menakaya in December 1989, and they got married in his hometown of Igbere, Abia State. He has four children namely: Neya Lawrence Iyere nee Orji Uzor Kalu, Michael Uzor Kalu, Olivia Uzor Kalu and Nicole Uzor Kalu.
