Buying Pre-Registered SIM Cards Can Lead To Imprisonment – NCC

The Nigerian Communications Commission has come out to warn Nigerians against buying pre-registered SIM cards.

The commission recently had its say via an advisory note sighted on its X platform, and Nigerians have been reacting.

According to him, such practice is illegal and could attract severe consequences, so Nigerians should only use SIMs that deliver their accurate consumer information.

NCC added that buying pre-registered SIM cards is criminal and it may lead to imprisonment.

It read, “Buying pre-registered SIM cards is criminal and may lead to imprisonment, implication in identity theft, financial fraud, kidnapping and armed robbery.”
