Delta State governor, Ifeanyi Okowa has come out to react to the increasing cases of COVID-19 in the state.

Okowa recently revealed that it is now clear that community transmission of the virus has reached an alarming stage and something must be done asap.

According to him, it is sad that several people still believe the coronavirus disease is not real despite the mortality rate going up almost every day.

He added that the earlier Deltans realized the realness of the pandemic, the better for the state and Nigeria at large.

His words, “It cannot be a hoax when over 20 persons have died including some prominent citizens.

β€œTherefore, I want to make a passionate appeal to all Deltans to please realise that the coronavirus disease is real. As of Saturday, the number of confirmed cases of the virus in the state was 781.”

β€œOn Thursday, June 25, 2020, Delta State recorded 106 cases, coming only behind Lagos, the epicentre of the pandemic. The latest figure from the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) shows that on Friday, June 26, Delta recorded 66 additional cases.

β€œThis brings the total number of infected persons in the State so far to 781. The local governments mostly affected are Oshimili South (181), Warri South (128), Uvwie (112), Oshimili North (79), Ughelli North (74), Ethiope West (41), and Sapele (66).”
