Emeritus Oladipupo Akinkugbe’s Death Is A Big Loss – Atiku

Ex Vice President of Nigeria and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar is currently mourning the death of Nigeria’s foremost educationist and medical professional, Professor Emeritus Oladipupo Akinkugbe who died on Monday at the age of 86.

He had his say in a recent statement by his media office.

According to him, Emeritus’ death is a major loss to the body of medical professionals in Nigeria and indeed the world.

He added that the deceased made strides with his medical researches and this made him a household name.

His words, “The loss of Professor Akinkugbe is a huge loss to our dear country. The late Professor was an excellent ambassador of Nigeria’s intellectual greatness. We would certainly miss him and his work both as an academician and administrator. His legacies will remain indelible in the sands of time.”

Atiku Abubakar GCON (born 25 November 1946) is a Nigerian politician, businessman and philanthropist who served as the 11th Vice President of Nigeria from 1999 to 2007 during the presidency of Olusegun Obasanjo.

Since the return to democracy, Abubakar has contested in all the elections. He twice ran as Governor of Adamawa State in 1990 and later, in 1998, being elected before becoming Olusegun Obasanjo’s running mate during the 1999 presidential election and re-elected in 2003.

He was a presidential candidate of the Action Congress in the 2007 presidential election. He contested the presidential primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party during the 2011 presidential election. In 2014, he joined the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2015 presidential election and contested the presidential primaries losing to Muhammadu Buhari.

In 2017, he returned to the Peoples Democratic Party and was the party presidential candidate during the 2019 presidential election.
