Ayotunde TWITCH Fabamwo is one of those rare species of young Nigerians making himself and his country proud, both regionally and internationally. He is the President of House of Twitch, a leading Pageant brand in Nigeria.
Currently in the United Kingdom in preparation for the annual Mister Africa International pageant, Naijavibe was able to get him to talk about his brand, prospects and success secret.
NV: PAGEANT FOLLOWERS WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT MAKES MR. AFRICA INT. DIFFERENT FROM THE REST & WHILE IT DESERVES OUR TIME & ATTENTION?
AYO: The Mister Africa International is the search for Africa’s ambassador to the world, we look for someone who wants to make a difference in the world. A big reason would also be that, no other platform / international pageant in the world gives a platform for solely African men.
NV: IF MR. AFRICA INT. INTENDS TO BREAK BARRIERS BEYOND THE USUAL PAGEANT NORMS, WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT QUALIFICATION YOU’RE LOOKING FOR IN A CANDIDATE, OR AN EVENTUAL WINNER FOR THAT MATTER?
AYO: Mister Africa International is all about a man who lives for another. At the Mister Africa International, we believe success isn’t about having fame or fortune but how many lives you touch with what you have. Being selfless, hardworking, and creating a path of success for others is what we look out for.
NV: WHAT IS YOUR INITIAL 3 YEAR PLAN, IF ANY, FOR THE MR. AFRICA INTERNATIONAL?
AYO: To establish it so strong, so African countries can start to produce male ambassadors.
NV: A PAGEANT OF THIS MAGNITUDE HOLDING ANNUALLY AND INVOLVING A LOT OF AFRICAN COUNTRIES IS NO EASY TASK FOR A YOUNG ENTREPRENEUR LIKE YOU. HOW HAVE YOU BEEN ABLE TO DO IT ALL THESE WHILE?
AYO: God and my parents have instilled in me many lessons, and i have used those lessons, Hardwork and consistency to stay ahead in the game. Also i have a wonderful team, who ensure all runs smoothly every year, and the country directors too are wonderful. With all these, the pageant holding annually is not only possible but exciting. JENNIFER RICHARDS and WALLAH MUTAU have been great. Its all about thinking big, and starting small.
NV: I’M SURE OUR NUMEROUS READERS WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY THE PAGEANT BEING MR. AFRICA INT. IS HELD IN EUROPE & NOT IN THE AFRICAN CONTINENT?
AYO: Mister Africa International is Africa’s ambassador to the world. Not only for african representatives from the continent but also representatives of African communities in other continents, and to launch the pageant, we needed a truly international city, which was London but the pageant will most likely be held in Africa next season.
NV: WHAT DO WINNERS STAND TO GAIN AND WHAT SHOULD WE BE EXPECTING THIS YEAR?
AYO: Primarily, the main purpose is to raise money for small scale businesses in Africa, so he will focus a lot on that. But he wins a 10000 USD modelling contract, cover model of magazines, and a number of talk shows. Also, 2013 is one of the best line ups we have had. There are more countries and you know what they say the more the merrier. Its gonna be amazing.
