Explosion rocks Central Mosque in Kano, many feared dead

An improvised explosive device (IED) has exploded at the Kano Central Mosque in the ancient city.

This happened during Friday prayers at the mosque.

The Emir of Kano, Mohammed Sanusi II, who usually prays at the mosque was absent from the mosque during the explosion.

Details of casualties are still sketchy but many are feared dead.
