PDP National Chairman, Uche Secondus has come out to speak against the constant borrowing from external sources in Nigeria.

Secondus recently revealed that PDP senators must keep protesting against such a move by FG because it will attract nasty repercussions.

According to him, PDP is worried about the continuous borrowing by the executive arm of Government since Nigerians will be the ones to pay for it in the nearest future.

He added that it will be difficult to breathe both politically and economically if the borrowing continues.

His words, “We are also worried about the continuous borrowing by the executive arm of Government if it continues like this, Nigerians would be feeling the pains on their neck and It will get to a point if we continue to borrow the way the executive arm is carrying on, it will be difficult to breath both politically and economically, so this must come to an end, there must be an end to borrowing. Those are the issues we have asked our senators to raise in the Senate.”

“I think that for today’s meeting at the Senate in the National Assembly we came to interact with our senators, the PDP caucus. We held a very useful discussion on behalf of the leadership of the party. We tabled before the Senate caucus of PDP the issue of Electoral reforms which is also on our minds and the minds of Nigerians.”

On Edo State, “Edo election is ongoing, the processes have started yesterday was the three man’s delegate election. On the 19th is the congress proper.”

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is a major contemporary political party in Nigeria. Its policies generally lie towards the centre-right of the political spectrum. It won every Presidential election between 1999 and 2011, and was until the 2015 elections, the governing party in the Fourth Republic although in some cases, amid a few controversial electoral circumstances. Currently, PDP controls 14 states out of 36 states in Nigeria.

In 1998 the PDP in its first presidential primary election held in Jos, Plateau State, North Central Nigeria norminated former military leader Olusegun Obasanjo who had just been released from detention as political prisoner as the presidential candidate in the elections of February 1999, with Atiku Abubakar (Governor-Elect of Adamawa State and a former leading member of the Social Democratic Party) as his running mate. They won the presidential election and were inaugurated 29 May, 1999.

The longtime slogan of the People’s Democratic Party has been “Power to the people”. During the party’s National Convention in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on 21 May 2016, David Mark, a former President of the Senate of Nigeria, introduced “Change the change” as the party’s campaign slogan for the 2019 general elections.
