Soccer - Europa League - Semi Final - First leg - Atletico Madrid v Liverpool - Liverpool Press Conference and Training - Vicente Calderon Stadium

FIFA has outlawed personalized headphones from the 2014 World Cup, and will punish teams whose players break the rules.

It’s been quite common to see players these days wearing huge headphones when making their ways to games, and FIFA has issued a directive banning the trend from the 2014 World Cup.

According to a Ghana FA spokesperson, I will reveal something to you; at the last FIFA seminar we attended for the 32 teams that have qualified for the World Cup in Brazil, FIFA has banned the use of the branded headphones that the players wear at the World Cup. There are new FIFA regulations for officials, players, media and so on for this World Cup and this is regulation is part of it.”

The ban on the branded headphones is thought to be in a bid to protect the marketing interests of World Cup sponsor, Sony, who also make headphones.
