I Avoid Men Who Constantly Talk Down On Their Exes – Toke Makinwa

Popular media personality, Toke Makinwa has come out to share her thoughts on red flags she would never ignore in a relationship.

She recently had her say during an interview with Madame Joyce, and fans have been reacting.

According to her, there are certain behaviours that would make a man never hear from her again, and they include a guy who rubbishes his ex any change he gets, talks about her consistently, or is still not over her.

Toke added that if she also meets a man who constantly makes comparisons to where he is coming from, she cuts him off completely.

Her words, “If I meet a guy that runs his ex down, he’s never going to hear from me again. If I meet a guy who talks about his ex consistently, he’s still not over her, and he’s not going to hear from me. If I meet a guy who makes comparisons to where he’s coming from, he’s never going to hear from me.

While you’re with him, it’s easy for a guy to paint a picture saying ‘she was crazy.’ every girl is crazy in every guy’s book, if my exes talk about me to you, you’d think I’m the mad one because everyone would tell story. I always tell women that nigga going on about how crazy she is is the one that made her crazy.

I feel like have this thing as women where we say it can never be me. We have this it can never be me syndrome.

I never say it can never be me because at 6pm that night. I don’t judge people because I don’t understand your journey. I hear and I say, may God give us mercy because I’ve seen how people say it can never be me and life would catch you at 6pm that night. One thing I have learnt is that we’re the greatest judges when it comes to other people, but when it’s our turn, we make a case.”

Toke Makinwa (born 3 November 1984) is a Nigerian radio personality, television host, vlogger, lifestyle entrepreneur, actress and author. Toke is known for hosting The Late Morning Show on Rhythm 93.7 FM and for her YouTube vlog series Toke Moments. She released her book On Becoming in November 2016. She is one of the top five African female show hosts.

Toke Makinwa was born on 3 November 1984, in Lagos state. She attended the Federal Government Girls’ College in Oyo State. Makinwa later attended the University of Lagos, where she earned a BA degree in English and Literature.

She lost both her parents in a gas explosion when she was 8 years old. On 15 January 2014 Makinwa married Maje Ayida whom she had been involved with for eight years prior to their wedding. In 2015, she separated from Ayida after discovering that he had impregnated his ex-girlfriend.

At the end of Big Brother Naija season 6, which she served as a host, she disclosed that she had lost her elder sister. In March 2022,she suggested that anyone doubting her claim to fame should research about her achievements using Google.
