I Hate Being Startled On Stage – Burna Boy

Popular singer, Burna Boy has come out to react to the backlash he faced for assaulting a fan who ran across the stage during his performance at the Greater Lagos concert.

He recently had his say via his social media page, and fans have been reacting.

According to him, it was a free show, and he even performed for almost one hour despite being asked to do 10 minutes, but he had to leave because he was clearly startled on stage.

Burna added that no fan should jump on his stage like that when he is performing because he has PTSD.

His words, “It was a free show. I was supposed to do 10 minutes and did almost one hour. Everybody knows my rule about getting on stage and startling me when I’m performing. I had an amazing time with Lagos State last night. Don’t jump on my stage like that! I got PTSD. I love you all. Happy New Year.”

He rose to stardom in 2012 after releasing “Like to Party”, the lead single from his debut studio album L.I.F.E (2013). He was awarded African Artist of the Year at the 2020 Ghana Music Awards. Burna Boy released his fifth studio album, Twice as Tall, in August 2020. It won Best World Music Album at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards. He won Best International Act at the 2021 BET Awards.

Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu was born on 2 July 1991, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. His mother Bose Ogulu worked as a language translator and his father, Samuel, managed a welding company. His maternal grandfather Benson Idonije once managed Fela Kuti.
