So today, on twitter, I kinda stumbled onto the whole story about Rita Ora and Rob Kardashian story. I preface this by saying, I honestly, knew little-to-nothing about their alleged relationship before today. I dont watch the Kardashians Reality show infact I dont watch any reality shows, period. I cant pass judgement on the Kardashians show, seeing as I havent watched any episodes enough to form an opinion; I do, however, think that a lot of reality shows are just bad for your intelligence; Im convinced that if a scientific study is conducted, wed find that watching enough of shows like Real housewives of hip hop.. (or whatever the hell the titles are).. would be found to reduce your IQ by a significant level. Not to mention that some of these shows set black people, and the human race in general, back by decades. But thats another story for another time. Suffice it to say that I blame #FlavaFlav and the creators of his show @ Vh1 for this madness. God is watching all of you.
ANYWAY, if you missed the Rob/Rita epic today, heres a recap. Allegedly, Rita and Rob were in a relationship. Apparently, Rita broke up with Rob recently, because the long distance thing wasnt working out, and to focus on building her career. Apparently, being dumped by Rita upset Rob so much, that he took to Twitter to vent about how Rita allegedly cheated on him this year with 20 guysor something like that and how hes so disgusted that she could give her body to that many people in one year, especially while in a relationship with himetc.
Apparently this breaking news has the entire twitter worlds panties up in a bunch, and a quick cross check of my Timeline, shows a large number of people giving an opinion, with a disproportionate amount of people going in on Rita, heaping insults on her, and calling her a hoe. Then I saw another trend where people started going in on other celebrities most notably, Kim Kardashian and Rihanna looping all of these women into the same hoe group. And it got me thinking
Its funny how were in such a rush to jump to unfair conclusions these daysit feels like were just.. in too much of a hurry. Too much of a hurry to offer an opinion, and WAYYYY too much of a hurry to pass judgement. We all know what the textbook definition of a hoe is, so for brevitys sake, I wont bother attempting to define it. Now lets look at the 3 names I listed earlier: Rita Ora, Kim Kardashian, and Rihanna. My disclaimer is: Im not up on current events on the E! Channel, so my opinion is based strictly on the little that I do know of these women, being, at best, a casual follower of pop culture.
Rita Ora: Im not really a fan of Ritas music just yet I do like the one song R.I.P that Ive heard from her (written by Drake and featuring Tinie Tempah), but thats about all Ive listened to. Id need to hear more to consider myself a fan. I like the song and her looks remind me of Gwen Stefani. With that being said, she broke up with someone, and he accuses her of some crazy shit. Now, none of us were in the relationship with them, so we dont know whether she actually cheated on him at all, and how many times she did or didnt do it. All of us have had bad breakups and weve all at some point or the other been victim of false reports, or been guilty of bending the truth a little to make ourselves feel/look a little better. Im not endorsing her cheating; Im just saying that the only person whos accused of her such, is hardly a credible source. Hes mad cuz she dumped him, and this is someone who, from the looks of things, doesnt even have his own source of income (unless you count getting pocket money from your sister as a valid job). And Im sorry, but taking to twitter to lash out at your exgirlfriend is just a bitch move. So what? You broke up. Big deal. Shit happens. Move on. Trying to publicly slander/destroy your ex in the process just makes you look like a spiteful lil bitch. Man up and go have rebound sex for goodness sake. Plus, if she did cheat on you, with TWENTY people, and you went back to her each time, then youre clearly suffering from low self esteem and you think you dont deserve better. You dont need a girlfriend, homie, you need a psychiatrist to talk you through your issues. What some people dont realize, is its never a good idea to air your dirty laundry; because when shit hits the fan, everyone gets sprayed. Noone looks good. Rule of thumb? Keep your business and your dirty laundry to yourself and never let em see you sweat. And get a job.
Kim Kardashian: From the little I know, over the past couple of years, Kims been with guys like Ray J, Reggie Bush, Kris Humphries, and Kanye West. In each situation, her partner was someone that was clearly very proud to be in a relationship with her, otherwise we wouldnt have known about it. In each situation, she was in a full fledged committed relationship with a successful partner. (A recording artist, an NFL player, an NBA player, and one of the greatest artists of our generation). One ex liked it so much he put a ring on it, even though that lasted all of 2seconds.One ex, while in the relationship, got her to make a sextape with him and leaked it. That tape, by conventional wisdom, was supposed to be great for him, and bad for her; but shes clearly the smarter one of the pair, as shes turned her 15 mins of negative fame into literally, millions of dollars, while it kinda feels like he has once again faded into just being Brandys brother. How many of us have sent explicit pictures, videos, or text messages to people we are dealing with? Just because our business isnt being put on blast on international television, does that make us any better? Some of us have had 5 times the number of partners shes had, in the same time frame; but because were just not as popular, does that make her a hoe? Come on now. Who is fooling who?
Rihanna: Not gonna waste too much time with this because by now, yall already see where Im going with this. Shes gone a little crazy with the overt displays of sexuality in her pictures on instagram, yes, BUT there arent too many men walking around that are claiming theyve bagged Rihanna.. even though all of us would love to. She fell in love, and dude beat her up (more on this another time); and after her break up, she casually dated people like Drake. And now shes back with Breezy. How does this equate to hoe-ism? Really?
Seems to me, these women are guilty of only two things. Being extremely popular, and falling in love (or fooling around) with assholes. And we all have our own dirt its just not on international television. So with that said, lets all return to taking care of our own glass houses, and quit throwing stones.
