The National Chairman of the Association of Vocational and Technical Educators of Nigeria, Prof. Effiong Asuquo has come out to say that the country’s economic uncertainties have defied known economic theories and principles.

He recently had his say while speaking at the 32nd International Annual Conference, held at the University of Uyo, and Nigerians have been reacting.

According to him, there is no doubt that Nigeria is battling challenges that defy popular economic principles, and the economic uncertainty has impacted how the nation can address issues like high cost of living, rising prices of essential goods and services and high transportation costs.

He added that the precarious nature of the situation calls for urgent and quick solution.

His words, “There is no doubt that the country is facing serious economic uncertainties that defy known economic theories and principles.

These uncertainties impact how the nation can address issues such as the high cost of living, rising prices of essential goods and services, high transportation costs, high rates of insecurity, acute food shortages, and poor balance of trade and payments, among others.

The precarious nature of the situation calls for possible solutions. This conference is expected to address this, and I believe that participants, who are mostly experts in technical and vocational education, will contribute effectively to this critical subject matter.”
