He recently revealed this in an interview with the press, and Nigerians have been reacting.
According to him, however, if Nigerians can embrace COVID-19 vaccination, the nation will most likely be excluded from the predicted calamity of the next wave.
He added that citizens need to keep taking the pandemic seriously because it is far from over.
His words, “You know that many of these we have failed to do, except probably, hand sanitising. But then the second and most important one is to go for the COVID-19 vaccination.”
“If people go for it, we are likely to be excluded from the predicted increase of the next wave. Those are things we must observe.”
“Nigeria needs to look inwards and budget for it because we have our own population.”
“We also need to discuss with Nigerians that are rich and blessed to support the vaccination drive. Initially, when COVID came there was a lot of support from the private sector, so we still need to appeal to them to support Nigeria so that we don’t fall among countries that will fall into a third wave of the virus.”
“We really need to take it seriously and remind ourselves that the problem is still there, it is not over yet, far from it.”
“I must say that there are some additional factors that we are yet to fully understand because the response to the behavioural change in terms of the none pharmaceutical public health response, that is hand washing, using face and nose mask, and physical distancing has really not been optimal in Nigeria. But somehow the rate of infection has gone down.”
