PDP Governors Saying We Manipulated Edo Governorship Elections Is Inappropriate – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission has come out to blast the Peoples Democratic Party governors over allegations that it manipulated the Edo State governorship election held on September 21, 2024.

The Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Rotimi Oyekanmi recently had his say while speaking to the press, and Nigerians have been reacting.

According to him, the recent claims by the PDP governors are simply unfortunate and inappropriate, but he cannot comment further on a matter that is before the court.

INEC added that they do not claim that the Edo State governorship polls was a perfect election, but it was definitely a good outing.

His words, “As a law-abiding organisation, we cannot comment on a matter that is before the court. It is sub judice.

Interestingly, it is the PDP that filed the petition at the tribunal to challenge the result of the Edo State governorship election that is now canvassing the same issues in the media. One would expect the party and its candidate to tender their evidence in court to prove the allegations detailed in their petition, rather than embark on media trial.

We do not claim it was a perfect election, but it was a good outing.”
