The Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the South West region, DIG Biodun Alabi has come out to urge police officers to accord members of the public their due dignity and respect human rights while discharging their duties.

He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and Nigerians have been reacting.

According to him, they must abide by these rules because the authorities would deal decisively with any officer found trampling on the rights of the people.

He added that human rights abuse has been identified as one of the major factors affecting the image of police, so officers must sit up.

His words, “Human rights abuse had been identified as one of the major factors affecting the image of police.

Officers and men of the Nigeria police force must be exemplary in their conduct, maintain the highest level of discipline to earn the respect and support of the general public in the discharge of their duties.”
