Religious Tolerance Must Be Preached Among Nigerians – Ademola Adeleke

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has come out to advise the Federal Government to recognize traditional religion and apportion to its adherents’ responsibilities.

He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and Nigerians have been reacting.

According to him, leaders of different faith should tolerate one and another in the interest of peace because the traditional religion has nothing to do with ritual killings or crime.

Adeleke added that we don’t need to talk down on any religion, and religious tolerance must be preached among people of different faith.

His words, “Be committed to your religion. Don’t treat your religion with levity. If you fail to be committed to your religion, you will jeopardise its future. If the Federal Government recognises Islam and Christianity, nothing stops it from promoting traditional religion.

Government should recognise the practitioners and apportion to them responsibilities. There should be no disagreement.

We don’t need to talk down on any religion. Nothing criminal was done regarding the traditional prayers that we had today and everything is going smoothly. I plead for religious tolerance among people of different faith. It should start from among leaders of all faith.”
