He recently shared never-before-seen footage from his studio sessions, including a clear confession about the song’s inspiration, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, despite the song’s lyrics about being too good for a lover, the tune was definitely about and for Serena, and it was a record he knew she would like to hear.
Drake added that he doesn’t believe Serena will hate him for the song because it was intended to be lighthearted.
His words, “If I’m gonna talk about [women], I’ll at least do them the justice of making them a song that they like. So, I know Serena very well and I know that she’ll hear it loud and clear.”
