Ex Presidential aide, Reno Omokri has come out to compare the wedding ceremonies in Southern Nigeria to weddings in India.

He recently had his say via his social media page, and fans have been reacting.

According to him, in India, the families of a bride actually pay the groom for coming to marry their daughters, unlike what is seen in some parts Southern Nigeria where men are made to pay millions of Naira for a wife.

He added that the women who are given away as wives in India are most of the time virgins, unlike in Southern Nigeria where it has been normalized for men to pay heavy bride price for women who have already been disvirgined.

His words, “If Southern Nigerian men travel widely, I don’t know if they will still have an appetite for Nigerian women. Please fact-check me. In India, no matter how beautiful a woman is, you are not paying any bride price if you marry her. Rather, her family will give you a dowry for marrying their daughter. Again, I strongly encourage you to fact-check me. And mind you, Indians don’t play with bridal virginity. Sad to say, they can kill their own daughter if it turns out that after paying a dowry to a man to marry her, she is discovered not to be a virgin. Meanwhile, in Southern Nigeria, we have normalised paying millions in bride price for something that one man ate for free with less than ₦5000. Men and women were not created equally by God. You do not have to like it. I am not even sure I like it. You just have to accept the truth. It is an honourable thing for a woman to lose her virginity to her husband.Save it for the marital bed, not one bush close to your campus, or his car parties by the road!”

WOW.
