The Borno State government has come out to say that it is very committed to doing more to ensure the right wellbeing of legionnaires in the state.

Gov. Zulum, represented by Deputy Gov. Umar Kadafur recently revealed that during the laying of wreath in Maiduguri to celebrate the end of this year’s Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration in the state.

According to him, the military deserves to be celebrated by the government and people of Borno for their sacrifice to guarantee peace in the state and North-East region as a whole.

Zulum added that he is willing to do more to cushion the hardship of the families of the fallen heroes.

His words, β€œLast week, I had an interface with the leadership of the Nigeria Legion, I made N10 million contribution to the families of the fallen heroes.”

“I am also willing to do more to cushion their hardship.”

“We must, therefore, spare some time, resources and our blessings to remember these heroes always, not just in January of every year, but in our daily prayers and activities.”

β€œLet me reiterate that government is fully aware of the predicament of the ex-servicemen and will do anything possible within its limited resources to give them the necessary attention they required at all time.”

Babagana Umara Zulum (born August 25, 1969) is a Nigerian professor and politician. He is the serving Governor of Borno State in the 2019 Governorship election under the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Babagana was born in August 25, 1969 in Mafa Local Government Area of Borno State.

After elementary schooling in Mafa Primary School from 1975 to 1980 and secondary education in Government Secondary School, Monguno from 1980 to 1985, Zulum studied at the University of Maiduguri, where he obtained a degree in Agriculture Engineering after which he served as a youth corps member with Katsina State Polytechnic.

He proceeded to the University of Ibadan from 1997 to 1998, where he obtained a master’s degree in Agriculture Engineering. In 2005, he enrolled for a PhD in Soil and Water Engineering with the University of Maiduguri which he completed in 2009.
