Vybez Kartel sentenced to life in prison

Vybz Kartel, The legendary jamaican dance hall artist faces the future today as he has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of his former associate Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams.

Kartel’s trial has been recorded as the longest trial in the history of Jamaica and the prosecutors say that Williams was murdered after a failed business deal. Kartel who was convicted of the murder last month has also been prevented from having parole for 35years as part of his life sentence handed down by Supreme Court Justice, Lennox Campbell

Shawn ‘Shawn Storm’ Campbell, Kahira Jones and Andre St John were also given life sentences in connection to Williams’ murder. Williams’ body was never found and the jury voted 10-1 to convict the four suspects.
The only juror who voted against the decision has been charged with attempted bribe to the other jurors to change their decision.

Clive Williams was murdered in August of 2011, the same month Vybz Kartel released Kingston Story.
