Wike Can’t Lift The Curfew In Bayelsa Amid Attack On Security Officers – Police

The Rivers State Police Command has come out to beg Governor Nyesom Wike to not lift the nighttime curfew imposed amid attacks on security formations and operatives in the state.

Spokesman of the State Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni made the appeal recently during a chat with newsmen in Port Harcourt, the state capital, and Nigerians have been reacting.

According to him, the curfew has aided the police to respond timely to distress calls, and security threats have also reduced, so it should not be lifted for now.

He added that the police is still working on apprehending the criminals left in Bayelsa, and once that happens, the curfew can be cancelled.

His words, “The curfew was imposed essentially to arrest the trend of attacks on police. Since it was imposed, that attack has seized abruptly and we are leveraging on it. I think the governor should still delay it(curfew) for some time because it has been assisting us.”

“We are driving the criminals away from Rivers State. So, when their remnants have been rounded off, then the curfew can be lifted.”

“I have every reason to be grateful to God for His grace upon me. It is on record that I did not only govern Edo State for eight years, but the party also worked hard to have my successor elected on its platform. It does not matter what happened after. I was also privileged to become the national chairman of our party and it does not matter even if I had spent just two days in that office.”

“It is for this reason that I have an obligation to continue to maintain and sustain the ladder which by the help of other people I used to climb up so that others too can take advantage of that ladder to even climb higher than I did.”
