Willie Obiano’s Arrest Wasn’t Political – EFCC

The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Abdulrasheed Bawa, has come out to reveal why the former Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano has not been released.

He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and Nigerians have been reacting.

According to him, the commission is waiting for Obiano to perfect his bail, and the ex-governor’s arrest was not politically motivated despite being detained beyond the period permitted by the 1999 Constitution as amended.

Bawa added that Willie Obiano has been granted bail, but he still has certain conditions to fulfil.

His words, “Nothing political about the arrest of the former Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano. He has been granted bail. But we await when he fulfils his bail conditions.”
