Your Children Learn How To Treat You By How You Treat Your Parents – Reno Omokri

Reno Omokri has come out to blast Nigerians in the diaspora who travel home to stage grand funerals for their parents.

He recently had his say via his social media page, and fans have been reacting.

According to him, such Nigerians deserve criticism for never coming back home to see their sick parents while they are still alive, and if they had visited, many of their parents would not have died.

Reno added that citizens in the diaspora should learn to let life unite them with their family instead of death.

His words, “How can you travel from overseas to your village to bury your parents, but you did not travel from abroad to visit them when they were sick? If you had visited them, they may not have died. You never sewed aso ebi to celebrate their birthday. Now you are spending $150 per aso ebi to commemorate their death? Let life unite you with your family instead of death. Remember, you teach your children how to treat you in your old age by how you treat your parents in theirs. A befitting life is better than a befitting burial.”

Reno Omokri (born 1974) is a Nigerian author and social media influencer.

Omokri was the host of Transformation with Reno Omokri, a Christian teaching TV show broadcast (for one season) on San Francisco’s KTLN-TV and Detroit’s Impact Network.

As the Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan, he was noted for using social media to conduct surveys and draw attention to the projects of the Nigerian Government. In 2011, Omokri called for Nigerians living outside Nigeria, to endorse Jonathan for the 2011 elections. Omokri was a signatory of a letter by a group known as G 57 that called for the resignation of Yar’adua.

Reno Omokri successfully supported a campaign to unfollow Nigeria’s president, Muhammadu Buhari on Twitter. His campaign #UnfollowBuhari, led to a 100,000 drop in the Nigerian President’s Twitter following in just 3 hours.
